View Low Season Rates →This premium 11-day Kenya & Tanzania safari has been meticulously designed to follow the Great Migration across two of Africa’s most iconic ecosystems—Kenya’s Masai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti—while also showcasing Amboseli’s elephant herds with Mount Kilimanjaro views, Lake Naivasha’s Rift Valley wetlands, the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater, the lush forests of Lake Manyara, and the baobab-studded elephant kingdom of Tarangire. The routing strategically blends long, unhurried game drives in prime habitats with well-timed transfers and handpicked lodges to maximize sightings and comfort for private groups seeking an authentic, photography-ready experience.
You begin in Nairobi before sweeping south to Amboseli, continue through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, then dive into the legendary Masai Mara for predator-rich plains and, season permitting, river-edge drama. Crossing via Isebania into Tanzania, you spend immersive days in the Serengeti (with an option to combine Northern river crossings and Central big-cat territory), then descend into Ngorongoro’s natural amphitheater, explore Lake Manyara’s groundwater forests and tree-climbing lions, and finish among Tarangire’s immense elephant herds and ancient baobabs. Throughout, professional guides, private 4x4s, and prime locations work together to deliver exceptional wildlife encounters.
Accommodations are selected for proximity to key viewing zones, authentic character, and consistent service standards. The program is ideal for six travelers sharing two private vehicles, keeping the pace flexible, the vehicle windows few, and the photography angles many—all while maintaining seamless logistics across the Kenya–Tanzania frontier with coordinated support from our on-ground teams.
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) where our representative welcomes you and facilitates a smooth transfer to The Heron Portico Hotel. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a brief city orientation of Nairobi or simply unwind after your flight. In the evening, your guide delivers a detailed safari briefing covering route highlights, migration dynamics, and key viewing zones to set expectations for the days ahead.
Overnight in Nairobi. Dinner on own arrangement.
After breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park, famed for vast elephant herds framed by the snows of Kilimanjaro. Settle in at Amboseli Sopa Lodge for lunch before heading out onto open plains and swamp-fed marshes where elephants, hippos, buffalo, lions, and prolific birdlife thrive. As the mountain clears toward evening, the golden hour turns the landscape cinematic—ideal for first-day photography.
Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge.
Begin with a sunrise game drive when predators and elephants are most active, then travel north into the Great Rift Valley, descending dramatic escarpments to reach Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort. After lunch, relax on the grounds or opt for a guided boat excursion among hippos and fish eagles, with superb opportunities for close-range avian photography as the Rift’s freshwater lake reflects afternoon light.
Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort.
Drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve and check in at Mara Sopa Lodge for lunch before an afternoon game drive. The Mara’s open grasslands and acacia-dotted plains are home to big cats, elephant herds, and—season permitting—the vanguard herds of the Great Migration moving between river systems. Your guide positions you for late-light sightings and classic dusk silhouettes.
Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.
A complete day on Mara’s plains allows time to track prides, scan river loops for crossings, and linger with cheetahs on vantage mounds. Between drives, return to the lodge for meals and a brief rest; optional visits to a Maasai village add cultural depth and context to the landscape you are traversing. Photographers benefit from long morning and late-afternoon drives when light is clean and wildlife most active.
Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Depart with packed lunches toward the Isebania border, complete immigration formalities, and continue into Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. As you enter from the west and curve toward Seronera, the habitat opens into rolling savannah cut by seasonal rivers and kopje outcrops—prime big-cat country. Enjoy a sunset game drive en-route to camp, scanning for leopard along riverine figs and lion prides near granite domes.
Overnight at Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Camp or Serengeti Safari Haven.
Spend the day exploring the Seronera region’s dense predator hub, where permanent water and resident plains game sustain high densities of lions, leopards, and cheetahs year-round. Your guide works river loops and kopje belts to maximize vantage points and anticipate movement, with a picnic lunch allowing you to range further across the core valley where sightings often stack up throughout the day.
Dinner and overnight at Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Camp or Serengeti Safari Haven.
At dawn, consider an optional hot-air balloon (USD 550 pp, not included) for an aerial perspective of the plains, followed by a champagne bush breakfast. The rest of the day extends deeper into Serengeti’s varied habitats, from open short-grass to boulder fields harboring hyrax and lions. Late-light sessions target hunting cheetahs and returning elephant herds.

Exit the Serengeti at first light and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a full-day descent into the Crater, an enclosed caldera with remarkable wildlife density including black rhino, big tusker elephants, large buffalo herds, lions, and abundant waterbirds. Enjoy a picnic near the hippo pool before ascending to Karatu’s highlands for the night.
Overnight at Marera Valley Lodge or Africa Safari Rift Valley.
After breakfast, head to Lake Manyara for a half-day drive through groundwater forests and acacia woodlands where elephants, baboon troops, and tree-climbing lions headline a park also famed for birdlife. Optional cycling and cultural tastings in nearby Mto wa Mbu add a lively human dimension before you return to your lodge to relax.
Overnight at Marera Valley Lodge or Africa Safari Rift Valley.
Conclude with a half-day in Tarangire, a landscape of colossal baobabs and vast elephant herds, where dry-season concentrations around the Tarangire River create classic wildlife scenes and predator activity. After late morning game viewing, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward flight, closing an extraordinary cross-border safari through East Africa’s greatest ecosystems.
End of services.
For peak migration months (typically July–October), you may switch the Serengeti sequence to prioritize the Mara River. On Day 6 you continue from Masai Mara to Northern Serengeti and check in at Northern Serengeti Safari Haven for sunset game viewing near key crossing points. Day 7 is a full day in the north dedicated to river loops, where wildebeest and zebra confront crocodile-lined channels under the watch of lions and leopards along rocky ridges. On Day 8 you transfer south into Central Serengeti, arriving at Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Camp or Serengeti Safari Haven to target big cats in the Seronera River system. The remainder (Days 9–11) proceeds as above with Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire leading to departure from JRO.
This variation preserves the same overall structure and inclusions while maximizing your chance to witness the Great Migration’s signature river crossings without compromising Central Serengeti’s year-round predator density.
