Tanzania Bush to Beach Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania - Aya Sophia Wildlife Lodge

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by our representative who will assist with luggage and facilitate the smooth transfer to Aya Sophia Wildlife Lodge in Arusha. This comfortable lodge, set amidst lush gardens with views of Mount Meru, provides the perfect introduction to your Tanzanian adventure, offering well-appointed rooms with modern amenities, a swimming pool, and excellent dining facilities.

The remainder of your day is at leisure to recover from your international flight, with opportunities to explore the lodge's tranquil surroundings or relax by the pool. In the evening, your safari guide will conduct a comprehensive briefing about the upcoming itinerary, providing valuable insights about the parks you'll visit, wildlife viewing expectations, and practical information to enhance your safari experience. Enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge's restaurant before retiring to your comfortable room in preparation for tomorrow's early start.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park - Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge or Marera Valley Lodge

Following an early breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, renowned for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees that dot the landscape. The drive to the park gate offers your first glimpses of rural Tanzanian life, passing through Maasai grazing lands and agricultural communities. Upon entering the park, immediately begin game viewing in this ecosystem characterized by the Tarangire River that attracts incredible concentrations of wildlife during the dry season.

Spend the day exploring the park's diverse habitats, from seasonal swamps and savannah to riverine forests, with excellent opportunities to observe lions, leopards, cheetahs, and numerous antelope species alongside the park's famous elephant populations. Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the scenic viewpoints before continuing your exploration in the afternoon. As the sun begins to lower, exit the park and drive to Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge or Marera Valley Lodge, where you'll enjoy comfortable accommodations and warm hospitality in preparation for your journey to Serengeti tomorrow.

Day 3: Drive to Serengeti National Park - Serengeti Tortilis Camp or Serengeti Signature Luxury Tented Camp

After an early breakfast, embark on the scenic drive to Serengeti National Park, descending from the Ngorongoro highlands through changing landscapes that transition from cultivated farms to open plains. Stop at the famous Olduvai Gorge, often called the 'Cradle of Mankind,' where anthropologists Louis and Mary Leakey made groundbreaking discoveries about early human evolution (visit subject to time availability). Continue through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, keeping watch for wildlife as you approach the Serengeti plains.

Enter Serengeti National Park at Naabi Hill Gate, where you'll complete park formalities while enjoying your first panoramic views of the endless grasslands. Begin game viewing immediately as you drive toward your accommodation, with the possibility of spotting lions, cheetahs, or even leopards in the Seronera Valley area. Arrive at Serengeti Tortilis Camp or Serengeti Signature Luxury Tented Camp in time for lunch, followed by some leisure time to settle into your comfortable tented accommodation. The afternoon game drive explores the surrounding areas, returning to camp as the sun sets for dinner and overnight amidst the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 4: Full Day Serengeti Exploration (Optional Balloon Safari)

Today offers the option of an unforgettable hot air balloon safari over Serengeti's plains (additional cost), where you'll float silently above the awakening wilderness at dawn, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush. For those not participating in the balloon safari, an early morning game drive provides excellent predator-spotting opportunities when animals are most active. Return to camp for a full breakfast and some relaxation time, perhaps observing wildlife from your tent's private veranda.

The day presents continuous opportunities to explore Serengeti's diverse ecosystems, with your guide selecting routes based on current wildlife movements and seasonal patterns. You might visit the Seronera River to observe hippos and crocodiles, search for leopards in the kopjes (rock outcroppings), or follow cheetahs on the open plains. As the day concludes, return to camp for sundowners around the fire, sharing stories of the day's sightings before enjoying another delicious dinner under the vast African sky.

Day 5: Half Day Serengeti, Maasai Boma Visit & Transfer to Ngorongoro - Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp or Ngorongoro Ang'ata Camp

After breakfast, embark on a final morning game drive in Serengeti, perhaps visiting areas not yet explored or returning to locations where particularly interesting wildlife behavior was observed previously. The Serengeti ecosystem constantly changes, ensuring each game drive offers unique sightings and photographic opportunities. Return to camp for lunch before beginning your journey toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

En route, stop at an authentic Maasai boma (village) for a cultural experience that provides insight into the traditional pastoralist lifestyle of these iconic cattle-herders. Learn about Maasai customs, visit a traditional homestead, and witness traditional dances before continuing to Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp or Ngorongoro Ang'ata Camp, where you'll enjoy dinner and overnight in preparation for tomorrow's crater exploration. The camps' elevated locations offer spectacular views over the crater highlands, with comfortable accommodations designed to blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive & Flight to Zanzibar - Warere Beach Resort

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater at dawn, entering this UNESCO World Heritage Site and natural wonder that hosts the highest density of mammalian predators in Africa. The crater's 600-meter walls create a unique self-contained ecosystem supporting approximately 25,000 large animals, including the endangered black rhino, large elephant bulls with impressive tusks, and abundant lion prides. Spend the morning exploring the crater floor, with excellent wildlife viewing opportunities throughout.

After your crater experience, ascend the crater walls and drive to Arusha Airport for your afternoon flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, you'll be met by our representative and transferred to Warere Beach Resort in Nungwi. Check into your beachfront accommodation and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure, perhaps taking a stroll along the pristine white sand beach or enjoying a swim in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Dinner and overnight at the resort on half-board basis.

Day 7: Nungwi Beach Exploration

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the resort with stunning ocean views. Today is yours to explore and enjoy Nungwi Beach, renowned for its powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. This northern tip of Zanzibar offers some of the island's most beautiful beaches, with opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing with a book under the shade of a palm tree.

You may choose to visit the nearby Nungwi Village to experience local fishing culture, or perhaps indulge in a spa treatment at the resort. Water sports enthusiasts can arrange snorkeling trips to nearby coral reefs or try their hand at stand-up paddleboarding. As the day progresses, find the perfect spot to witness Zanzibar's spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean before enjoying dinner at the resort's restaurant featuring a blend of Swahili and international cuisine.

Day 8: Swimming with Dolphins & Sunset Cruising with Dinner

Start your day with an early morning dolphin swimming experience in the crystal-clear waters off Zanzibar's coast. This magical encounter allows you to observe and swim with these intelligent marine mammals in their natural habitat, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Return to the resort for breakfast and some leisure time to relax on the beach or by the pool.

In the afternoon, prepare for an unforgettable sunset cruising experience. Your cruise includes:
→ Sailing to Anchorage
→ Swimming on the Anchorage
→ Dinner
→ Sunset view while sail returning to the resort.

Your cruise is fully serviced with a professional crew including Skipper, Chef, Deckhand, and Hostess. Enjoy afternoon snacks featuring fresh fruits, a selection of soft drinks and alcohol (beer - 1 bottle per person, white or red wine - 1 bottle per couple), hot drinks including tea and coffee, and various flotation devices including dinghy, transparent kayak, snorkeling sets, and SUP. All fuel for engines and generator plus final cleaning is included. Return to the resort for another overnight in paradise.

Day 9: Stone Town, Prison Island, Nakupenda Sand Bank & Spice Farm Tour

After breakfast, embark on a full day of cultural exploration beginning with a visit to Zanzibar's historic Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the narrow winding streets, bustling bazaars, and significant historical sites including the House of Wonders, Old Fort, and former slave market. Continue to Prison Island, home to giant Aldabra tortoises and excellent snorkeling opportunities.

Next, visit the stunning Nakupenda Sand Bank, a natural sandbar in the middle of the ocean where you can swim in crystal-clear waters and relax on pristine white sand. In the afternoon, experience Zanzibar's famous spice farms with a guided tour where you'll see, smell, and taste various spices that earned Zanzibar the nickname "Spice Island." Learn about their cultivation and traditional uses before returning to your resort in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Departure

Enjoy a final breakfast at the resort with beautiful ocean views. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some time for last-minute souvenir shopping or a final swim in the Indian Ocean.
